Other makes

My collection 2021

Over the years I've owned a fair few other model horse brands but very few have meant as much to me as my Julips, Magpies, and more recently Shadow models. I guess the mass-produced horses like Breyer and Scheich just don't have the same personality as my favourite makes.

Below are the models that I decided were too special to be sold on during various purges and house moves over the years!

Teviotdales

My little herd of teviotdales have been with me since I was a child. I honestly can’t remember getting them but I imagine my mum must have bought me them as gifts for various Christmasses or birthdys. I never expected to add to the original herd of four (grey pony in a rug, palomino in tack, grey pony rolling, and a bay pony with lunge cavesson) but then spotted a grey pony with tack and a rider for sale in a Facebook sales group and jumped at the chance!

These little guys are incredibly sweet and I love the realism of the various accessories they are wearing. I have been keeping my eyes peeled for more to add to the herd but sadly they seem to be few and far between.

Copperfox Model Horses

These models were created back in 2015 by Becky Benfield. They are similar to Breyer in some ways but, much higher quality with more of a focus on British breeds. I managed to get my hands on an example of three of their moulds.

The largest is the Irish Sports Horse 'Cadbury', a very handsome fellow and a horse I plan to make some fancy tack for one day. Next up is probably my favourite Copperfox mould, the Welsh Cob. 'Prince Cavalier' in a sooty dappled dun. He's so expressive!  Finally, I have 'Cadno', a bay example of the Connemara mould. I'd love to get hold of an Exmoor too one day.
